This novel has touched me at so many levels。 On the face of it the story is "merely" a coming of age tale of two 15 year old Mexican boys in America。 But the depth of their thoughts have been explored so very well by the author that the novel rises way above the mundane into something remarkable。Our protagonists struggle to grow, battle their feelings, and try to comprehend the mysteries of their lives and desires。 We the readers share their laughter and their tears, trials and victories。 We kno This novel has touched me at so many levels。 On the face of it the story is "merely" a coming of age tale of two 15 year old Mexican boys in America。 But the depth of their thoughts have been explored so very well by the author that the novel rises way above the mundane into something remarkable。Our protagonists struggle to grow, battle their feelings, and try to comprehend the mysteries of their lives and desires。 We the readers share their laughter and their tears, trials and victories。 We know the kindness of adults in their lives。 Their love and their pain。 All of these are beautifully woven in this book's numerous chapters。 It is as if we, the readers, are being gently cajoled to grow up with the boys。 Each principle character is lovingly sculpted by the author, he has breathed life into them。 We are enticed to share their lives and root for their success。Truly a remarkable book。 Do read。 。。。more

It is quite simple but it touches your heart in all the right places if you ever experience the things these boys experienced。 I have never once read this book without crying at all。

I first read this book about two years ago and it instantly became one of my favorites。 I got it in the summer and during that summer I read this at least three times。 Since then I try to read it every summer if I have time。 If you read this you know it is only right to read it during the summer。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I love Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe。 It's a wonderful coming of age story。 Two 15 year old loners meet and become best friends。 The next year one comes out as gay。 Very touching; a few laughs, a few tears。 I love Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe。 It's a wonderful coming of age story。 Two 15 year old loners meet and become best friends。 The next year one comes out as gay。 Very touching; a few laughs, a few tears。 。。。more

This was a book I didn't want to end。 The characters are rich and superbly created; I wanted to meet each one of them in person。 The story is poignant and touching, taking us into the complex world of what it's like to be Mexican American for coming-of-age boys in a larger cultural context。 It was a privilege to be on the journey with them。 The dialog captivated me。 It was engaging, quippy, laugh-out-loud funny at times。 This is a book for anyone of any age - it is about finding one's place in t This was a book I didn't want to end。 The characters are rich and superbly created; I wanted to meet each one of them in person。 The story is poignant and touching, taking us into the complex world of what it's like to be Mexican American for coming-of-age boys in a larger cultural context。 It was a privilege to be on the journey with them。 The dialog captivated me。 It was engaging, quippy, laugh-out-loud funny at times。 This is a book for anyone of any age - it is about finding one's place in the world, about family, about life。 。。。more

This is one of the most beautiful books i have ever read。

Full 5/5 stars。 This book is just so amazing, the writing, the allusion, the story in general。 It’s a perfect depiction of the experiences of manhood and the LGBTQ+ people。 The slow-burn romance (which is typically not my style) encapsulated me and kept me reading for hours。

I read this book in two days。It's wholesome and so cute。I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to spare their heart with a cute happy ending。 I read this book in two days。It's wholesome and so cute。I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to spare their heart with a cute happy ending。 。。。more

Have you ever read a book that gave you a new understanding of yourself in a way that you didn’t know was missing? That’s what Aristotle and Dante did for me。 I don’t think it will work for everyone。 But wow。 I’ve never seen the emotional turmoil of being a teenager so perfectly encapsulated。 The questions Ari asks of others and the questions he refuses to ask of himself made me recognize things from my own youth and my own current adulthood that I didn’t know were there。 I’m enchanted。

I'm struggling to see why so many people give this book 5 stars, perhaps the YA genre isn't for me anymore or maybe it was just the bland writing style。 The portrayal of Mexican Americans and one kids conflict with his culture was a really interesting aspect as was the mystery of what happened with Ari's brother but other than that I wasn't particularly interested in the story。 (view spoiler)[ Also I'm definitely not a fan of the ending when Ari is told by his parents that he loves Dante instead I'm struggling to see why so many people give this book 5 stars, perhaps the YA genre isn't for me anymore or maybe it was just the bland writing style。 The portrayal of Mexican Americans and one kids conflict with his culture was a really interesting aspect as was the mystery of what happened with Ari's brother but other than that I wasn't particularly interested in the story。 (view spoiler)[ Also I'm definitely not a fan of the ending when Ari is told by his parents that he loves Dante instead of him discovering it himself, in a way it makes it feel less genuine。 (hide spoiler)] I'm happy other people love it so much but it just isn't for me。 。。。more

*not rly spoilers but (BELLA) don't read this if you don't wanna know anything about the book*I cannot actually decide how i feel about this bookI mean Ari isn't a very likable character and his relationship with Dante puzzles me bc Ari low key treats Dante like shit。 He's not a very good friend and quite honestly Legs and Dante's parents were the only valid characters in this book。 This book has been on my tbr for forever and it kind of feels like a letdownI'm so genuinely confused rn *not rly spoilers but (BELLA) don't read this if you don't wanna know anything about the book*I cannot actually decide how i feel about this bookI mean Ari isn't a very likable character and his relationship with Dante puzzles me bc Ari low key treats Dante like shit。 He's not a very good friend and quite honestly Legs and Dante's parents were the only valid characters in this book。 This book has been on my tbr for forever and it kind of feels like a letdownI'm so genuinely confused rn 。。。more

maybe I was expecting much because it was heavily awarded and I was really thrilled on what and how they are going to discover the secrets of the universe。。。but it was too shallow for me。 it is just about two guy friends who later became a couple。

I wasn't going to put an official rating but I find myself wanting to。 I read over 200 pages today to finish this, and that is not like me lol。 Must have liked it a lot!The teen angst is painful, in a good way。 The boys are lovely。 The ending is perfect。I love how much of it is dialogue, but that does result in my one tiny issue with the book happening a lot。 It's just a personal pet peeve, probably not even technically wrong, but I hate when the same character has two lines of separated dialogu I wasn't going to put an official rating but I find myself wanting to。 I read over 200 pages today to finish this, and that is not like me lol。 Must have liked it a lot!The teen angst is painful, in a good way。 The boys are lovely。 The ending is perfect。I love how much of it is dialogue, but that does result in my one tiny issue with the book happening a lot。 It's just a personal pet peeve, probably not even technically wrong, but I hate when the same character has two lines of separated dialogue in a row。 (Like, imagine going down the page。。。 Ari line, Dante line, Ari line, Dante line, Ari line, Ari line。) For some reason it makes me want to scream!
